In accordance with Texas state requirements, all notaries must verify the identity of each signer prior to performing any notarial act. Identification must be valid, government-issued, unexpired, and include a photograph.

To ensure a smooth appointment, please bring one acceptable form of identification with you.

Identification Requirements

In compliance with State of Texas law, notaries are required to verify the identity of each signer before performing any notarial act. All forms of identification must be valid, government-issued, unexpired, and include a photograph. Please note that notaries are strictly bound by these state guidelines and cannot make exceptions. Clients must present one valid form of identification at the time of their appointment. Acceptable IDs include:

  • State-issued Driver’s License (from any of the 50 U.S. states)
  • State-issued Identification Card (from any of the 50 U.S. states)
  • U.S. Passport issued by the U.S. Department of State
  • U.S. Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) issued by USCIS
  • U.S. Military Identification Card or Common Access Card (CAC) issued by the U.S. Department of Defense
  • Texas Concealed Handgun License (CHL) or License to Carry (LTC) issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
  • Driver’s License or Identification Card issued in Mexico or Canada
